Last November, the U.S. bishops voted in favor of a document calling on those in a state of serious sin to refrain from receiving Communion.
I have thought that if I am in such a state of sin I should skip communion. I've only done it occassionally. (Years ago when I had a baby with me I would walk out with my child and people would not know that I did not feel in sync with God at that time.
What are the guidelines or advice that you can offer? Generally, my serious sin might have only been an argument with my family that I hadn't gotten over yet. I know that is what Reconciliation is for, but it doesn't always work out for me.
